The racial makeup of the county is 97.27% White, 0.22% Black or African American, 0.65% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.41% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. 1.53% of the is Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 96.00 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.30 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $37,928, and the median income for a family is $44,581. Males have a median income of $30,670 versus $22,981 for females. The per capita income for the county is $17,691. 8.40% of the and 6.40% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total , 8.40% of those under the age of 18 and 10.40% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
