NATIONAL GET OUT DOORS DAY

Melvern and Pomona Lakes and the City of Lyndon will be participating in this event. It is a new annual event to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun. Prime goals of the day are reaching first-time visitors to public lands and reconnecting our youth to the great outdoors. National Get Outdoors Day is an outgrowth of the Get Outdoors USA! campaign, which encourages Americans, especially our youth, to seek out healthy, active outdoor lives and embrace our parks, forests, refuges and other public lands and waters.

Activities planned for the day are:

Pomona Lake

• Kids Fishing Derby with local fishing expert Dr. Bob Harmon

• Captain Cat Fish John Trager Kansas City’s #1 fishing guide

• Wind Surfing Demonstration- Wigger area North End of Dam

• KS ATV association open house located at W 217th St.

• Locust Point Gun Club Open House 19939 S Berryton Rd

• The City of Lyndon- Hosting a GeoCaching Workshop lunch will be provided

• Melvern RiverFront Park and Trail- 710 N Pine Melvern – Ride or Walk the trails

Melvern Lake

• Reenactor camp National Congress of Old West Shootist – Cowboy action shooters

• Wind Surfing Demonstration- Outlet fishing Pond

• JR Oldham from Anglers Midwest – professional angler located at the Outlet River Pond Boat Ramp

• Eisenhower State Park – Trail Ride begin at 10:00am

• 6:00pm at Ike’s Shelter House -Cowboy Dinner and Live Entertainment
  

Osage County Treasure Hunt

There are treasures hidden all over Osage County. Join us on June 13, 2009 at the Lyndon Community Building to learn how to Geo Cache and then we will go out into Osage County to find the treasures. Osage County has more than 60 Geo Caches (treasures) hidden.
