Leadership Osage
County
Leadership Osage County was organized in 1991 as a joint effort
between the Osage County Extension Council and the Osage County
Economic Development Corporation (OCED). The program seeks out,
honors, educates, challenges and develops a select group of Osage
County youth and adults who have the potential to provide the leadership
needed to solve community problems.
Participants: The maximum class size is 10 adults and 10 youth.
The adults are selected from applications submitted from throughout
the county. Two youth participants are selected from each of the
five school districts in the county.
Costs: The tuition fee for each participant is $50.00. The fee
may be paid by the participant, his/her employer, school, or by
a sponsoring organization. OCED also provides funds for programs.
Program and Topics: Leadership Osage County, which is held annually,
consists of seven class sessions held between January and May.
Class topics include: personality types, Osage County history,
leadership styles, group processes, communications, county and
state government, local education opportunities, industry and tourism.
Class locations are scheduled throughout Osage County and a variety
of speakers lead the sessions. Completion of the class is signified
by graduation.
Each year, evaluations are used to improve class content. Leadership
program alumni provide an integral source of advice for future
programs.
